Eureka is located about ten miles northeast of Brownwood, Texas.
Take U.S. Highway 377 east for about eight miles. Watch for the "Eureka
Cemetery. This will be at the junction of US 377 and County Road
327. This County Road is not paved. Go about two miles. The Cemetery is
on the right. This site was once a community. The school was across
the road from the Cemetery. This Cemetery served as the community Cemetery
until most of the
community moved east, to present day Blanket, Texas. This occurred
when the railroad came to Blanket, from Ft Worth to Brownwood. This happened
in the mid 1890's.
A Texas Historical Marker was placed at this location in 1995, by
some of the local family members. It is currently being maintained by the
local citizens. The Cemetery is out of the H. T. & B Survey.
