SPECIAL SERVICES PRISONER OF WAR CAMP, CAMP BOWIE, TEXAS.

Recreation and Entertainment:

     a. Recreation rooms and areas: 
         Recreation buildings - 60 ft x 48 ft (1 each compan;y).
              1. Theatre - (projector, screen, seats etc) 100 ft x 20 ft. 
              2. Woodwork Shop - 80 ft x 20 ft.
              3. Day Room Equipment:
                         1 Ping Pong table per CODIpa.ny
                         1 Billiard table per company
                         3 Card tables, etc per company

         Canteen building - 66 ft x 20 :ft (1 for compound)

         Outside beer garden - 130 :ft x 60 ft (1 :for compound)

         Regulation Soccer Fields - (1 per compound)
                                                   (1 per stockade)
         Regulation Volleyball courts - (2 per compound) 
         Regulation Tennis courts - (2 per compound) 

     b. Movies: 
         Shown: Twice each week.
          Paid for by: POW Fund. 
         Type of :films: American and some Ge:rman

     c. Orchestra and Theatricals:

              1. Orchestra - 16 piece orchestra playing :for evening entertainment. 
              2. Theatricals - 1 per:formance each two months (rehearsing, ete)

     d. Hobby Shops:,
          Woodcraft and model shop.
               Equipment - carpenter tools, woodcarving sets, etc (each compound)

      e. Farm outside stockade - 125 acres. 

       f. Assistance rendered Branch Camps:
          No Branch Camps.

       g. Library:
           Volumes. - 1236 books and pamphlets.
           Types of books.- fiction and educational (most educational books are written in English)

        h. Athletic Equipment: Furnished by PW Fund & Relief Organizations.

         j. Newspapers and Magazines:
            Newspapers - New York Times and New York Staatszeitung und Herold. 
            Magazines - Time, Life, Colliers, Sa:turday Evening Post, Readers Digest and etc.

EDUCATION PROGRAM:

         a. Director - POW Mtayer, Albin, Feldwebel , 8WG-59787.

         b. Subjects offered - English (for beginners & advanced), Geography,  Biology, Mathematics, College 
                                         Algebra, German, Bookkeeping, Shorthand, Agricu1ture.
             Class attendance - Ayerage 15 to 20 men.

         c. Participation in correspondence work with U. S. Universities -
             None interested.

         d. Camp Newspaper (POW) - None.

          e. Facilities and Equipment - Classroom space and text books.

RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES:

         a. Conducted by:  POW minister and POW Priests.

         b. Attendance - 50 men Protestant Services, 80 men Catholic services.

         c. Facilities - Building 60 :ft x 48 frt and pecessary furnishings.
